Arrive in LA

If only the doors were open...
Our arrival into LA bought smiles to our faces, the reality that the journey was now underway. Our flight was long but having a four hour stop over in New Zealand and a vacant seat beside us we were able to stretch out and get a little sleep.
After working our way along the enormously long line of people getting through customs, we collected our luggage and took a cab to El Monte RV to pick up our RV that was in storage with them. We made the short distance to Lomita where we we spent a few days with our niece Su-lin and her husband Jo. Over those few days Jo and Su-Lin became our taxi and tour guides driving us to various places to purchase supplies for the RV and showing us some of LA's highlights like Rodeo drive, Hollywood and Beverley Hills. All for the stylish, sophisticated and the rich and famous.  We were treated to great food, a good time and experienced that wonderful family hospitality.  All too quickly the time had come for us to leave LA behind and continue on to Flagstaff where we will meet up with our travel buddies......

TIME HAS COME.....

Today is the day we hit the air . Woke to a text from Wendy who is joining us in our travels that she was boarding her flight and immediately a wave of emotions hit. Tears welled in the eyes as we remembered  our 3 month goodbyes to family and  freinds and the heart started beating with excitement for what we will do, see and experience in the 3 months ahead.

I guess the trip really began yesterday when we left home and flew from Taree to Sydney where we spent the night so we would not be rushed to meet our deadline of 9.30am check in although will not be seem real until we head out over that big stretch of blue ocean and into the clouds.

A beautiful morning in Sydney, sun is shining and no wind which should make for a great take off.  Hope we will get the added benefit of a window seat so we can view the sights of the city. We will have a four and a half  hour stop over at Auckland and with the time difference we will be in LA  before we have even left ...

Next update will be from the other side of the world.....

waiting waiting waiting ....

Checking in  we are on our way...

Not long Now...

Hi All

We are 18 days out from the beginning of our 3 month travels of USA, Cananda and Alaska and are both counting down the days and getting a little excited for what we will see and experience. Have started laying our clothes out on the spare bed but looking at the piles know some culling will have to take place. Russ assures me there are shops over the other side of the world therfore the " JUST IN CASE" items remain at home.  The days will pass all too quickly. Nine of them we will spend at the Sydney Caravan and Camping trade show promoting the park.

We will be travelling with Russell's brother and wife, Geoff and Kienny who have a  troop carrier . Travelling with us in our RV will be Russell's sister Wendy, and a few weeks into the trip her huband Mal will join us. Once we arrive in LA we will pick up our RV and head to Geoff and Kienny's daughters home in Lamita where we will spend a few days equipping the RV before heading off to the Grand Canyon to meet up with Geoff and Kienny for some shared FUN and good times.

Stay tuned....       This blog will keep you updated on the Kingsmill's travels..
